More Indian women are choosing gaming as a serious career option
It’s a great time to be a gamer in India, here and now. Not just to play games but to earn a living through them, too. It’s a fact underscored by HP India Gaming Landscape Study 2022, a study that surveyed over 2000 people across 14 Indian cities.
It highlighted this new sense of optimism among gamers that feel gaming offers good earnings prospects along with multiple career choices.
According to the study, around two-thirds of serious gamers expressed their desire to explore gaming as a full-time or part-time career. Another key reason driving gamers towards gaming is the possibility of their hobby becoming a career. Gaming is also considered a source of entertainment, relaxation (92%), improving mental agility (58%) and socializing (52%).
Here are some broad insights into the HP India Gaming Landscape Study 2022:1) Women gamers are on the rise in India. Women gamers are eyeing a career in gaming, turning their hobby into a profession (50%) and providing good earnings prospects (45%) – which is a great trend to track.
2) According to the study, only 2% of respondents have received formal training in gaming. While most gamers rely on personal skill enhancement to upgrade their gaming performance, 32% follow a gaming star to enhance their skills.
3) As many as 55% of the surveyed gamers are serious gamers that spend time competing online in group matches or tournaments glory.
4) According to the respondents, 68% of gamers prefer to play on a PC because it offers a better high-end gaming experience, while 39% of mobile gamers are open to upgrading to a full-fledged gaming PC in the near future.
